Products & choosing materials
What products can I enquire about?
Our website presents wood pellets, briquettes, firewood, charcoal, sawdust and wood shavings. You can also contact us about straw pellets. Ask us to confirm current availability, specification and suitability for your intended use.
How do I enquire about straw pellets?
Email info@cambridgeshirestrawpellets.com or message +44 7480 299968 on WhatsApp. Tell us your intended use, quantity and delivery postcode so we can discuss the product and supply requirements.
Can I use straw pellets instead of wood pellets?
Do not assume they are interchangeable. They use different raw materials, and suitability depends on the application. For heating, check the appliance manufacturer’s approved fuel specification before choosing a pellet type.
What should I check before buying wood pellets?
Check the fuel grade, pellet diameter and other specifications required by your stove or boiler. Ask for the specification of the available product and compare it with your appliance manual before ordering.
Are your wood pellets ENplus certified?
Ask us for the certification details of the specific product being quoted. Certification should be supported by product documentation; this website does not confirm ENplus certification for every product.
Can wood pellets be used in any stove?
Choose fuel that the appliance manufacturer explicitly approves. A stove designed for logs should not be assumed suitable for loose pellets. Consult your manual or installer if you are unsure.
How do briquettes differ from firewood?
Briquettes are compressed wood fuel; firewood consists of cut logs. Size, composition and burning characteristics vary. Use only the form and quantity of fuel recommended for your appliance.
What information should I request about firewood?
Ask about wood species, log length, moisture content, pack size and whether the logs suit your appliance. Confirm these details for the product offered rather than relying on its appearance.
Can I use sawdust or wood shavings for animal bedding?
Suitability depends on the animal and the material. Confirm wood species, treatment, dust levels and the intended bedding use before purchase. Seek advice from an appropriate animal-care professional if you are unsure.
Which material is best for my business?
Start with the application and its requirements. Tell us whether you need fuel, bedding or another material, together with your required specification and quantity. We can discuss the available options without assuming every material suits every use.
Storage & care
How should I store bagged pellets?
Keep bags dry, protected from weather and away from damp surfaces. Follow the product’s storage instructions and keep packaging intact until needed. Store fuel away from ignition sources.
Can pellets be stored outdoors?
Only use storage that keeps the product reliably dry and follows its storage instructions. Packaging alone should not be assumed weatherproof. Ask about suitable storage before arranging a delivery.
What should I do if pellets become wet?
Keep the affected material separate and check the supplier’s guidance. Moisture can affect pellet condition. Do not put damaged fuel into an appliance without confirming that it meets the required specification.
How should I store firewood?
Keep logs off damp ground and sheltered from rain, with airflow around the stack. HETAS recommends burning wood with a moisture content of 20% or less. Check the fuel and appliance guidance before use.
What should I know about bulk pellet stores?
Bulk storage needs a suitable design and operating procedures. HSE identifies carbon monoxide and oxygen-depletion hazards in enclosed wood-pellet storage. Do not enter a pellet silo, hopper or enclosed store; follow the system’s professional safety guidance.
How should I store sawdust and shavings?
Keep materials dry and covered, with packaging protected from damage. Follow product instructions for handling and storage, and confirm any specific requirements for animal bedding or workshop use.
